At Sailing Compass, sailing education goes beyond learning manoeuvres and passing an examination.
Our instructors combine extensive sailing experience, professional training and hands-on teaching, with a strong focus on safety, seamanship and real-world decision-making.
Training is delivered by officially licensed sailing coaches registered with the Greek General Secretariat of Sports, within the framework of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.
Lefteris Amoiralis
Founder · Certified Sailing Instructor · Engineer · PhD · Educator
With more than 20 years of sailing experience, Lefteris combines extensive experience at sea with a strong academic and educational background.
He is the founder of Sailing Compass and an officially licensed sailing coach registered with the Greek General Secretariat of Sports.
A Production & Management Engineer with a PhD in Energy, Lefteris also brings several years of university teaching experience to sailing education. His approach combines technical understanding with hands-on training, making complex concepts easier to understand and apply onboard.
His training philosophy places particular emphasis on safety, seamanship, understanding and sound decision-making. The objective is not simply to teach students how to sail, but to prepare them to confidently take responsibility for a yacht and its crew.
Takis Vamialis
Senior Sailing Instructor · Certified Sailing Instructor · Mechanical Engineer
Takis Vamialis is a Mechanical Engineer with more than 37 years of offshore sailing experience and an extensive background in both racing and sailing instruction.
Active in offshore sailing since 1985, he began as a crew member on numerous racing yachts and, since 1992, has sailed as skipper of racing sailing yachts.
Since 1992, Takis has also been professionally involved in offshore sailing instruction, collaborating over the years with established sailing clubs including the Nautical Club of Vouliagmeni, the Attica Sailing Club and the Nautical Club of Vari-Varkiza.
He holds an official Sailing Coach Diploma from the Greek General Secretariat of Sports, obtained in 1994.
Throughout his long teaching career, Takis has trained more than 2,500 students, bringing extensive practical experience, racing knowledge and seamanship into every course.
